Fans of the upcoming title Mirror's Edge finally have a release date to pencil in their calendars. According to EA, the first person action-adventure game will hit the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on November 11th in the U.S.. However, the PC version has been delayed, and will be released "later in the winter." A demo of the game will be available on both systems sometime in the near future.
DICE, the EA-owned developer behind the title, has high hopes for the new IP. "Mirror's Edge is bringing something new to the action-adventure genre this holiday by putting the player in the shoes of the hero, seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels," said DICE Senior Producer Owen O'Brien. "We wanted to create an entirely new experience, with a different type of heroine and a world that not only looks fresh and new but has unique gameplay."
Mirror's Edge recently won "Best Xbox 360 Game" at the Leipzig Games Conference and also turned heads earlier this summer at E3 2008. The game is a departure for DICE, which is famous for its line of Battlefield titles, most recently Battlefield: Bad Company. However, despite the anticipated release of Mirror's Edge, DICE is still working on several Battlefield titles, including Battlefield: Heroes, a web-based advertising-driven title, one for the Korean market in collaboration with Neowiz, another console exclusive title, and a rumored Battlefield 3 for the PC. Look for both Mirror's Edge and Battlefield: Heroes before years end.
